SURGICAL SERVICES
We use only the safest available anesthetics (Isoflurane gas) to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients.  Using the most modern equipment, the vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic proceedures, even the most routine surgery, including our spays and neuters.

Each patient is first examined, then given an IV injection of anesthesia. All patients are intubated and maintained on gas anesthesia (isoflurane), ensuring that they do not awake on the table.  To make the proceedure is safe as possible, every surgery patient is hooked up to a pulse oximeter and monitored by a technician.  We recommend pre-anesthetic blood evaluations to determine if your pet is healthy enough to undergo the procedure and IV catheter and fluid therapy to maintain blood pressure and flush the kidneys while under anesthesia, and allows pain medication to be given during and after surgery to help them recover as comfortably as possible.

Our Co2 laser (shown in use above) has been in use for about a year now.  We chose to offer laser surgery because of it's many benefits to our patients.  Not only does it provide for less bleeding during surgery, it also lessens the chance of infection after surgery.  Recovery time is shorter and your pets feel better sooner.  We highly recommend this for our feline declaws, removal of tumors and other growths, and any other surgery that involves cutting skin and tissue, even routine spays and neuters.  This portable unit makes it possible for use on equine patients as well when doing surgery in the equine surgery suite.
Routine surgeries are performed on Tuesday and Thursday mornings by appointment only.  Patients need to be checked into the hospital between 8:00 am and 8:30 am.  No food or water after 10:00 pm the night before surgery.  Most routine surgery patients are released the same day.
All emergency surgery is accomodated, no appointment is needed.
